Rooftop Workspace
Russell Square
2006
This commission to design a pocket wildlife sanctuary in the middle of London for the Institute of Education proved challenging because the location was 4 floors up! Located on a listed building none of the garden structures are actually attached to the building but rest upon the roof space.
Planting is primarily native planting and the success of this and the space was confirmed when a kestrel made it part of its home. This wildlife haven also serves as a garden workspace for staff during the warmer months of the year.
Awarded the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (USA) Award 2007.
