Blind Veterans UK Centenary Garden Llandudno

2015

RHS Outstanding Award Wales in Bloom 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The new Blind Veterans UK centre in Llandudno sits within great grounds including a large woodland belt. It was here that we have created a new 4 acre woodland garden entirely with volunteers.

The existing woodland was first cleared of scrub and self seeded trees were part removed to create glades and openings. One of the biggest challenges of a garden like this is to maintain a naturalistic feel whilst creating lots of interest in colour, fragrance and wildlife. Places to sit and enjoy the garden in the sun and shade but also a workshop to get involved in joinery and places for groups to meet. The garden has been a real success and has been awarded the ‘RHS Outstanding Award’ in Wales in Bloom in 2015 and 2016 with the judges praising the layout and planting design in particular.
