Hampshire country garden

A gardener’s garden

Our clients are longstanding and we first started working with them 30 years ago when we created a garden in Raynes Park which got much attention not least from the first edition of Grand Designs Magazine! This garden is a departure from those London town gardens and is set around a house designed by themselves.

The garden is not huge but it does contain an ancient pond that has been retained and enhanced with a walk around the water. The width of spaces around the pond are relatively narrow as two sides are boundaries, a third is restricted by ground solar panels and the fourth is the lawn that meets the house. There was enough space to install a circular deck that provides a spot to relax and look back across the water and immerse yourself in the flowers.

The images show a garden that was planted just 15 months earlier, so with two growing seasons to show how much you can achieve in a relatively short time. Trees were planted beyond the space you see and a wildflower meadow will be sown in the autumn now that it is ready to be created. Beneath existing trees a woodland matrix planting has been made to create year-round interest and groundcover.
