Ice Garden

RHS Garden Wisley

2010

One of a number of commissions we have received from the Royal Horticultural Society this is perhaps one of the more unusual, an installation for a festival of lights at the RHS Garden Wisley in Surrey. Using the largest blocks of ice that could be made in the UK a dramatic conceptual garden was created that engaged with the botanical collection of the garden and in particular within a grove of bamboos.

The ice, due to be replaced at the end of the first week, resolutely did not melt due to an unusual cold spell of weather and so a further installation was created interacting with trees near by. Further snowfall meant that the installation was able to survive for almost a full month.

Other commissions include wildlife gardens for the RHS Science Department and temporary installations for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show Gala Evening and Product of the Year.
