Andrew Fisher Tomlin EMH

Founding partner

Andrew originally trained as a horticulturist and founded the company in 1991. He is especially known for the planting design of residential gardens and public spaces. The latter includes advising on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and designs for public gardens for the Royal Boroughs of Greenwich at Charlton House and Kensington & Chelsea at Holland Park. He has also been commissioned internationally designing gardens and planting across Europe, Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

In 2026 Andrew was recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society and HM King Charles III and awarded the Elizabeth Medal of Honour in memory of HM Queen Elizabeth II. In keeping with the number of years of her reign only 70 people can hold this honour at any one time.

Andrew’s work bridges design and education through his work with London College of Garden Design and other educational bodies. He is a Chartered Horticulturist and a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Horticulture and the Society of Garden Designers, the UK’s professional bodies for horticulture and design. He is Patron of Veterans’ Growth, a charity that supports veterans through horticulture based in West Sussex.

He is currently working with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission helping to reimagine their planting for a changing climate, biodiversity and sustainability  for the next 50 years. Andrew continues to contribute to Fisher Tomlin & Bowyer on a limited number of projects such as those for the Greenfingers Charity. His bestselling book ‘The New Professional Planting Designer’  was published in 2025 by Rizzoli New York.
